A Home Away From Home
We understand as well as anyone that it can be stressful to leave your pet behind when you travel out of town, particularly if they are ill or recovering from a procedure. At Trooper Veterinary Hospital we want to help put your mind at ease with our expert lodging services.
We provide complete general services for all our existing patients, including specialized medical services for pets with conditions standard boarding centers may not be equipped to accommodate.
Pet Lodging: A Typical Day
Dogs
Your dog will be provided with clean bedding, appropriate toys, fresh water, and a healthy diet. If you prefer your own food to be fed, please bring it along.
We wash all pet bedding and toys every day and cannot guarantee the return of a favorite toy or blanket, therefore it is best to leave personal belongings at home. You will be asked to take your carrier and leash with you and bring it when you return.
Your dog will have supervision throughout their entire stay with us.
Cats
Your cat will be fed according to your specifications and their requirements, to ensure their routine is the same as it is at home.
We provide daily one-on-one interaction with kitties (when wanted) including play, snuggles, and pets. Litter boxes are checked, cleaned, and disinfected periodically throughout the day.
Additionally, we refresh linens and clean your kitty's room daily. Our cat lodging area is separated from the dog area to ensure your kitty feels relaxed and safe while they stay with us.
Medical Lodging
Your pet will be supervised by our expert veterinarians and nurses, who will administer medications and watch over them closely. Any required medications will be administered to your pet on the same schedule they are used to at home.

- What accommodations and amenities do you have?
We've got everything your pet needs for a fun, recuperative, and safe stay, including the following accommodations and amenities:
- Indoor, secure, climate-controlled kennels
- Comfy, cozy beds for each guest
- Clean towels, blankets, and bowls
- Individual space for each pet
- Separate lodging area for cats
- Special diet accommodations
- I've never visited your hospital before, can my pet stay with you?
We provide our lodging services for existing patients only. To qualify as an existing patient your pet must have attended a routine exam with one of our vets in the last year.
- Is there a limit to the number of pets I can board at a time?
We have a large facility and are able to accommodate several animals at once, provided you give us sufficient notice.
For their safety, we do not put family pets in the cages together but they can be positioned so they are across from each other.
Playtime can be arranged for family dogs for an additional fee.
- How much does pet boarding cost?
Boarding fees vary based on the duration of the stay, the size of the pet, and special medical requirements. That said, our pricing is affordable and competitive, and we welcome you to contact us for a quote.
- What time should I drop off and pick up my pet?
All pets must be dropped off or picked up during regular office hours. Reservations are recommended, especially for holidays and summer weekends. During these times, we recommend that you call 2-3 weeks in advance to increase the chance that a spot will be available.
- What should I pack for my pet?
Food: We provide food for pets staying with us. However, please feel free to bring enough of your pet's regular food to last the duration of the stay.
Medication: If your pet takes any medication, bring it along for our staff to administer (additional fee).
- What if my pet needs to take medication?
We will be glad to administer your pet's medications while they are with us (additional fee).
- Can I get updates about my pet during their stay?
Yes, feel free to call us during your pet's stay for updates. If there is a problem, we will contact you via the emergency contact information you provide.
- How should I prepare for my pet's stay?
Each animal is different. To prepare for your pet's stay with us, we'll take the following steps to ensure that we can meet their unique needs.
Step 1: Contact us to get started
Call us to book, and to discuss details about your pet and your boarding needs. A member of our team will be happy to coordinate your booking.
Pets must be up to date with specific vaccinations, have a negative fecal test, and be free of fleas and ticks to stay at our facility.
Step 2: Book a short stay first
We want to be absolutely sure that we are a good fit for your pet before an extended stay. A one or two day stay will allow us to assess your pet's temperament and make sure they are comfortable staying with us.
- What do you feed animals that don't have their own food?
There is no additional charge to feed your food from home (just be sure you bring enough). If we feed our food, we use a high-quality sensitive stomach diet, appropriate for the size of your pet.
