Thank You, Canine Blood Donors!

Trooper Vet is proud to partner with Penn Animal Blood Bank to host a canine blood drive site several times a year.  We wanted to take this opportunity to thank the Drochek family for their commitment to the Penn Animal Blood Drive. This past summer, the handsome Drochek "brothers" all hit big milestones in the blood donor program!

Pictured with their mom, Julie, from left to right are the generous canine blood donors:

Oslo, who is now officially retired after donating 1 1/2 gallons.
Dublin, who is now a member of The Gallon Club.
Boulder, who is now a member of The Two Gallon Club!

Could your dog be a lifesaving hero by becoming a blood donor?

To be eligible to be a blood donor, your dog must be between one and six years old, weigh at least 55 pounds, have a good temperament, be in overall excellent health, and not be on any medications (other than heartworm preventative and flea/tick control).  Does your dog meet those criteria?  Then we want to talk to you!  Please contact us at 610-539-6820 to speak to Karen, our veterinary nurse and director of Trooper Vet's blood drive for further evaluation for the canine blood donor program.  Looking ahead, our next blood drive will be held on Saturday, November 21st.

Dog Blood Drive!

TROOPER VETERINARY HOSPITAL is proud to host University of Pennsylvania Penn Animal Blood Bank

Held right here at Trooper Vet in Norristown on December 14th 9AM-1PM 4 to 5

Penn Animal Blood Bank is looking for volunteers for their blood donor program. The program looks to companion dogs to help save the lives of other companion dogs. Many dogs need blood to survive when they are suffering from anemia, blood disorders, rat poison ingestion and some emergency surgeries.

You may be able to help if your dog is:

•Good tempered and a willing volunteer

•Over 55 lbs.

•Between 1 and 7 years old

•Up to date on vaccines

•In excellent health

•Not taking any medication other than heartworm & flea protection

In appreciation, your dog receives a free bag or case of food. Once a dog donates, it becomes a lifetime member of the Penn Animal Blood Bank. If ever in need of a transfusion, blood is guaranteed to be available to donors, free of charge.

The Bloodmobile will be located here in our parking lot, and we are now taking appointments. Please call us to talk to our blood drive coordinator, Karen.

Congratulations to the following HERO DOGS who have joined the “Gallon Club”!
Dogs donate about one pint each time, and these dogs have each donated one gallon or MORE!!
