University of Pennsylvania Penn Animal Blood Bank
Held right here at Trooper Vet 4 to 5 times per year
Upcoming Blood Drive:
Saturday, June 8th, 2013
9AM - 1PM
Penn Animal Blood Bank is looking for volunteers for their blood donor program. The program looks to companion dogs to help save the lives of other companion dogs. Many dogs need blood to survive when they are suffering from anemia, blood disorders, rat poison ingestion and some emergency surgeries.
You may be able to help if your dog is:
- Good tempered and a willing volunteer
- Over 55 lbs.
- Between 1 and 7 years old
- Up to date on vaccines
- In excellent health
- Not taking any medication other than heartworm & flea protection
In appreciation, your dog receives a free bag or case of food. Once a dog donates, it becomes a lifetime member of the Penn Animal Blood Bank. If ever in need of a transfusion, blood is guaranteed to be available to donors, free of charge.
The Bloodmobile will be located here in our parking lot, and we are now taking appointments. Please call us to talk to our blood drive coordinator, Karen.
